What should I do if my internet connection is not working after a power outage?

< 1 min read

  1. Check outlets and cabling: Verify whether power is available to the modem and router either through a connected power cable or battery backup. If the modem or router has a power switch, verify that the switch is turned ON (or is in the right position).
  2. Verify cable connection: Make sure that all cables are securely connected to the back of the router and modem. Repair or replace any damaged cables.
  3. Restart your router and modem: Try turning off your modem or router for 1-2 minutes to see if it can reset itself. Wait a few moments before turning the device back on.
  4. Check any changes in your ISP settings: If you recently changed your service provider, check the username and password for the new provider and enter them into the modem to connect to the internet.
  5. Contact your ISP: If you have done all the above steps but still are unable to connect to the internet, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for further assistance.
